Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - dissapointed
Designed by idiots for idiots and reviewed bt idiots.I bought 1 of these on the basis of the reviews.First thing to clarify which was missleading is this is a coffee bag - like a tea bag is a tea bag, and its not a pod.
The strength - weakness is a better word was very similat for a 1 cup and 2 cup measure. It was not strong enough,The best cup I made was putting the coffee bag in a cup like a tea bag. What a joke. One up for the marketing people.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Agree and disagree with other reviews
I read up on lots of reviews before getting my Senseo. Now that I have had it for a couple of weeks I cannot understand some of the points made, and others I agree with. Here are my comments on some of the negative points made by others:

1. The pads are expensive.
- Agree with that, but I only drink 2 cups/day, and I like the idea of them being really nice and fresh, so to me they are worth it.

2. The coffee isn't very nice.
- Disagree. That would of course be a matter of taste, but the Douwe Selection range is very nice and strong(try the Sumatra!). I have not tried their original varieties, since I had heard many say they are too weak, and I like my coffee strong.

3. The cofee isn't hot enough.
- Agree AND disagree! Preheat the cup with some water from the water kettle and it makes a HUGE difference! If I want to just drink the cup really fast I don't preheat, but if I want it to last a little I preheat. I drink my coffee black, but if were to have milk in it I would preheat the milk in the microwave before brewing.

4. It makes too small cups.
- Agree. One more ounce or so in a cup wouldn't hurt at all! As it is now for me, one cup is a tiny bit too little, and two cups a little bit too much.

5. The machine is messy and it takes lots of cleaning using it.
- Disagree! This one is a total mystery to me! The people that gets messes must be doing something seriously wrong! I have hardly any coffee drops at all if I leave the cup 10-20 seconds after the "main" brew. Not a single coffee drop so far transferring the used pad from machine to dustbin a few meters away. Could not be easier!

My general view of this machine is that it is extremely easy to use, and for a one-person household it's a really convenient way to get a couple of really fresh coffee every day without having to make a pot and throw away half of it, or having the coffee powder go old because you use too little. It takes up realtively little counterspace, and I only wish all things in the kitchen produced as little mess and were as easy to keep clean as this one!

I can now have the luxury of two types of coffee going at the same time without having to worry about the getting old, loosing flavour. OK, the pads are kind of expensive and hard to get (have to get them mail order), but I luxury hardly ever comes for free!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Makes very good coffee... if you don't expect perfection!
Reading other reviews you might be confused. Don't be. The Senseo makes better coffee than you will get at most high street coffee shops where you pay over £1.50 for similar stuff in a paper cup. It is easy to use and makes more sense than making up a large quantity and keeping it on a hotplate all day, especially if you only have the odd cup. If you are a real coffee lover - and grind your own beans (like I used to), use a proper italian machine (like I used to) - you will find fault - the system is not perfect. However if you lead a busy life and simply want a better cup of coffee than you get from instant, or the office vending machine, invest in one of these. It's a great compromise and if wait long enough Amazon will do it for around £25, as they did a couple of months ago.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - lame
The main problem with this is the quality of coffee. I blame either the machine or pod design as Dowe Egberts coffee is great. There is clearly not enough pressure or heat, as dribbling hot water over a bag of coffee does not produce a brew that tastes of anthing. Waste of money.
