Brand: Kenwood EAN: 5011423070827 Label: Kenwood Manufacturer: Kenwood Model: SB206 MPN: SB206 Publisher: Kenwood Release Date: January 24, 2003 Studio: Kenwood Editorial Review: Amazon.co.uk Review: Blend and foam fruit into healthy smoothies that are available on tap with the Kenwood SB206 Smoothie Maker. Smoothies are the milkshakes of the new millennium and as well as being very tasty, they can be healthy too. The Kenwood SB206 is designed to cope with fruit and ice as well as milk and other liquids. The wide funnel-shaped goblet means everything falls neatly onto the blades and makes it easy to clean as well. You don't have to struggle with grooves or latches, because the goblet just sits in the base. There's a tap too, so you don't have to tip everything up to get your smoothie out. The goblet has the usual volume marker on the side (capacity is 1.5 litres) and it's also marked to show you how much fruit or ice you can put in, how much liquid you can put in and (most useful of all) how many people will get a drink. This isn't a multi-purpose liquidiser--the blades are raised above the spout of the tap to produce a nice foamy smoothie, so it's not good at grinding dry ingredients. If you're mixing something particularly thick, pop in the stirring stick to make sure everything gets well mixed; this makes your smoothies even foamier. The powerful motor can cope with frozen fruit, ice cream or ice cubes and the high-speed Smooth button finishes your drink in under 60 seconds. Smoothies are a great way of getting kids (and adults) to enjoy their daily dose of fruit. But if you're going to make smoothies every day you want a blender that's easy to clean. The goblet, lid and stirring stick are dishwasher safe but they also wash quickly under the tap because there are no nooks and crannies for pulp to lurk in. It's surprising how much difference the shape of the goblet and the tap make to the SB206; just make sure the tap is closed before you start filling the goblet. --Mary Branscombe Related Items:

![]() Rating: - Does what you expect...makes great smoothiesThe first review of this machine was back in 2003, here we are in 2009 and it's still doing the business. Easy to use, produces great smoothies. Not rocket science, but very, very tasty. Rating: - It leaks! This is really dissapointing after examining the entire manual and having more than one person confirm its not me doing anything wrong - it jsut leaks, as said by a few other reviewers - right through the base as the seal doesn't seem to do it's job - an absolute piece of tat. Unfortunately i bought it from someone who had it as an unwanted present, can hardly return it. Dont bother basically. Rating: - Great smoothie maker for a first time buyer!Well, if you're thinking of buying a smoothie maker for the first time this one is simply perfect. It's simple to operate, with a choice of 4 buttons that are sure not to get you confused, and a handy stirring rod that allows you to push down the chunky bits of fruit or whatever so they can be liquidated. The tap is simply a must-have feature on any smoothie maker, although some are ok without, it makes the job so much easier so you can just keep making smoothies in one sitting without having to keep taking the jug off. Although these do require some maintenance, and cleaning it is quite a job, it shouldn't take you more than 5-10 minutes. A great price, a great product and in my experience a great, speedy delivery. 5 shiny stars ***** for this! Rating: - Smooth operatorAfter resolving to eat more fruit and cut down on the booze, I decided that a smoothie maker might be a sound investment. After browsing Amazon I plumped for the Kenwood SB206 as it looked like a fairly handsome beast and the reviews were generally positive, although some reviewers had reservations, most notably about the spout clogging and the difficulty in cleaning the unit. Both of these concerns are unfounded, the spout works well, if you keep the machine running whilst dispensing, something that is made abundantly clear in the instructions. I really fail to see why anyone would complain that the machine is difficult to clean! The parts are easy to remove and rinse through, on the proviso that you wash it shortly after use. I don't own a dishwasher, but understand that jug and components aren't dishwasher-proof, but it takes so little effort to wash, this should only put off the most slothful individuals. So far I have used this smoothie maker without any real problems and have enjoyed some extremely tasty smoothies, the controls are absolute child's play and the recipe sheet in the back of the instructions is extremely useful source of inspiration for the beginner. This smoothie maker can take everything I have chucked in it and chews up ice with absolute ease, albeit more loudly than I anticipated. Please remember this is not a juicer and you need to remove any stones or pips in the fruit you place in the machine - although in a machine costing a little over 20 quid it would be extremely churlish to complain about this. The machine comes with complete with a stirring stick, which seems to be a fairly pointless accessory and the Kenwood is a bit larger than some other models, but this is mere nitpicking. I am more than happy with my smoothie maker ; it has been terrific fun experimenting with different combinations of fruit, ice and juice. For the money it is certainly a sound buy.
