Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - WAY ahead of its time!
It is either ahead of its time or the world has got worse! To think that these were made in the late fifties in incredible. They are saucy, suggestive and naughty! Lets face it, "Some Mothers do Have 'Em" is so closely based on the Glums that it is hard to watch the latter show nowadays. And everyone knows Alf Garnett was based on Pa Glum.

As a historian of comedy I had heard of the Glums but when I found the tapes I could not believe how much I laughed!

Can you get more episodes? Well, sometimes BBC7 broadcasts episodes of Take it from Here (where the show comes from) but on cassette you can get TIFH 1 and TIFH 2 (very hard to find though). I think because the first half of the show had a traditional format (singing, a music item) that they were allowed to get away with such risque humour with the Glums. I'm glad they did.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Classic British Radio Comedy
Very funny radio comedy from the 1950's. I like the way each episode starts with Jimmy Edwards in the pub at closing time. The Bath Night episode is worth the price of the tape alone - where Jimmy gets his toe stuck in the plug hole because Ron has taken all the plugs to teach himself draughts. The other episodes are: New Clothes, The Burglar, The Tattoo, Babysitting, Thief at Work, Leaving Home and Name Change. I can only hope the BBC release more of these 15 minute episodes - real comedy gems.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Classic British Radio Comedy
I didn't realise how funny The Glums were - the writing is very funny(Frank Muir and Dennis Norden) and delivery excellent by Jimmy Edwards, Dick Bentley and June Whitfield. The episodes are only 15 minutes long but all eight are gems. I like the way each episode starts with Jimmy Edwards in the pub around closing time. I hope the BBC release more of these - I need my fix of radio comedy!
